A Stihl chainsaw and several very expensive Pelican cases. I have found (and, in some cases purchased) stuff on Craigslist priced at about 40% of retail, despite being brand new. When I was still a criminal investigator, I got monthly reports from state police of boats reported stolen in NYS.many of the boats on the list had been stolen over a decade ago and were still on the list. The FBI NCIC maintains a database of stolen vehicles by VIN, but am not sure if they also track boats and motors. If there is indeed a more permanent VIN stamped into the block, or, if the ECU contains it (if original ECU), you could make inquiries, or an authorized dealer may enter the number into Yamaha's database simply to determine service history.probably a more likely way of being found in possession of stolen property than a law enforcement stop while on the water. Apple was of almost no help to law enforcement, either. I was disappointed to learn that Apple does not do so, after the theft of an iPad from a locked vehicle and hidden from view. Yamaha may even maintain a database of motors reported as stolen.
